These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Mapu, a mobile application that helps people discover and join real-world events nearby. By using Mapu, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Welcome to Mapu. We provide a platform for discovering, creating, and joining real-world events near you. The terms “we,” “our,” and “Mapu” refer to the Mapu team. “You” and “user” refer to anyone who accesses or uses our services.
By accessing or using the Mapu mobile application (the “App”) or any related services (collectively, the “Services”), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app message or email. Your continued use of the Services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
To use Mapu you must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a binding agreement. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that:

Prohibited Content — You may not upload or share content that:
Posting prohibited content may result in immediate suspension or permanent termination of your account.
You are solely responsible for the content you post, including event descriptions, photos, messages, and profile information (“Your Content”). By posting Your Content, you grant Mapu a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, display, store, and use Your Content solely to operate and improve the Services.
You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights to Your Content and that it does not violate any third-party rights or applicable law.
We may review, remove, or limit access to Your Content at our sole discretion if we believe it violates these Terms, without prior notice or liability.
Other users also share content on the Services (“Member Content”). You may not copy or use Member Content for any purpose beyond what is permitted by these Terms. Mapu does not endorse Member Content and is not responsible for its accuracy or legality.
All other content on the Services — including the app interface, graphics, text, and branding — is owned by or licensed to Mapu and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to access and use it solely for your personal use of the Services.
Mapu is built on respect. We do not tolerate harassment, discrimination, fraud, or any harmful behavior on or off the platform.
If you witness behavior that violates these Terms or our community standards, please report it via the in-app “Report” feature or contact us at support@getmapu.com.
We reserve the right to remove content, suspend or terminate accounts, and take any other action we deem necessary to protect users and the platform — including behavior that occurs offline at in-person events organized through Mapu.
If your account or content is restricted or removed, you may request a review within 30 days by contacting support@getmapu.com.
Your privacy matters to us. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information. By using the Services, you agree to our Privacy Policy.
Your precise location is never shared with other users. We use your location only to display relevant nearby events and to set event locations when you create them.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Mapu grants you a personal, worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Services for their intended purpose. This license is automatically revoked if you violate these Terms.
By creating an account, you grant Mapu a worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute Your Content solely to operate, develop, and improve the Services. You retain ownership of Your Content.
By submitting feedback or suggestions, you agree that Mapu may use them freely without compensation to you.
You agree that Mapu may access, preserve, and disclose your account information and content where required by law or in good faith to: (i) comply with legal process; (ii) enforce these Terms; (iii) protect user safety; or (iv) respond to claims of third-party rights violations.
You may delete your account at any time from the app’s Settings → Delete Account. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel any active in-app subscriptions; you must cancel those separately through the App Store or Google Play.
Mapu reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account at any time, with or without notice, if we determine that you have violated these Terms or engaged in conduct we regard as inappropriate or harmful. Upon termination, these Terms remain enforceable between you and Mapu. Your information will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
Mapu does not conduct formal criminal background checks or identity verification on users. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users, both online and at in-person events. Always use good judgment and take appropriate safety precautions when meeting new people.
MAPU MAKES NO REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES AS TO THE CONDUCT, IDENTITY, INTENTIONS, OR VERACITY OF ANY USER. YOU UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT THAT YOUR INTERACTIONS WITH OTHER USERS ARE ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.
MAPU PROVIDES THE SERVICES ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. MAPU DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT ANY CONTENT OBTAINED THROUGH THE SERVICES WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, MAPU AND ITS TEAM SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICES. MAPU’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) €100 OR (B) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO MAPU, IF ANY, IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain liability limitations, so the above may not apply to you in full.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold Mapu and its team harmless from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (i) your use of the Services; (ii) Your Content; (iii) your conduct toward other users; or (iv) your breach of these Terms.
If you have a concern or dispute, please contact us first at support@getmapu.com so we can try to resolve it informally. We value our relationship with every user and aim to address issues quickly and fairly.
If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, it shall be submitted to the competent courts of the jurisdiction where you reside, or, where permitted by law, to binding arbitration. For users in the European Union, you may also contact your local consumer protection authority or use the EU’s Online Dispute Resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/odr.
These Terms are governed by applicable law in the jurisdiction where the Services are primarily operated. For EU and EEA users, mandatory consumer protection laws of your country of residence apply.
With your permission, Mapu may send push notifications related to events, chats, and app updates. You can manage or disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
The App uses your device location to display nearby events and allow you to set event locations. You may disable location access in your device settings at any time, though some features may become unavailable as a result. For more details, see our Privacy Policy.
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via in-app notification or email. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
